Wanton Soup

Hello! Today I'd like to share with you my modified recipe of making wanton soup. It's simple and easy to make; the tedious part is wrapping the meat in the wanton skin, but for that you can always enlist the help of your husband / boyfriend / sister / friend / others. Here it goes:

Minced chicken meat
Medium-sized, fulled skinned prawns
Wanton skin
Pepper
Egg white
Spring onion
Corn flour
Salt
Water
Chicken stock

First and foremost, we need to marinate the wanton filling. Mix the minced meat + pepper + salt + egg white + spring onions, and set it aside for about 15 minutes.

In the mean time you can get the wanton skin out from the packaging and mix some corn flour with water to make a paste. Experience taught me that you should have all things at arm's length because making the wanton can be a bit messy.

Lay the wanton skin on a flat surface. Scoop about half a teaspoon of the meat (you can increase / decrease the amount based on the size of the wanton skin) and place it on the skin. At the 'peak' of the filling, put a prawn. This, too, is dependent on it's size. If it's too big, you might have to cut it in half.

Once you're satisfied with the filling, apply the corn flour mixture around the corners of the wanton skin. This acts as a paste. There are several ways of folding wanton - triangle / pouch. Keep it aside and do the same till you finish all of the meat.

Once you're done making the wanton, get some water boiling for the soup. The soup is simple, add in some chicken stock (you can substitute stock with chicken cube) + pepper + salt. When the water comes to a boil, put in the wantons.

You know the wanton is cooked when it floats on the surface of the soup. Take the cooked wantons out and place them on a plate. The soup is ready - it is a delicious concoction induced with the flavour from the stock and the wanton filling.

Garnish the soup and wanton with spring onions. This is best served hot.

Adios! ( '', )
